What We Do
So what exactly do we do at Retake?
We connect with people who have not only lost their homes or belongings, but also their most precious memories, keepsakes, and family heirlooms because of the horrible situations they have endured. We offer them new photos that they can cherish as they rebuild their lives. We meet with the survivors to hear their stories, learn about their journeys, and then create new beautiful portraits through fun and easy photoshoots. After, we give them both framed and digital copies of their keepsakes. |
Sharing Your StoryThe first step is connecting with those who we will photograph. We partner with people and organizations who know those communities and are a trusted source. They help connect us, so we can learn about our photoshoot recipients' backgrounds and stories in a trauma-informed way that is healing, not hurtful.

Photoshoot TimeOur photoshoots will never be the same thing twice. Sometimes we hold large photoshoot events at parks, apartment complexes, or partner organization's offices. Other times, we go to the individual families' home. Whatever it is, we will work around everyone's schedules to have a quick and easy shoot for all involved.

Final Product DeliveryAfter the photoshoot, we sort through the images to find the best ones. We beautifully and professionally edit, print, and frame them. While only a few of the photographs will be framed, we will share all edited ones with the families digitally. Then comes one of the best parts: delivering the final products to the families.
